WEEKLY UPDATES

Be Love 1:1 is a year-long program bringing two people together as equals to learn from each other & improve their lives.

THE BE LOVE ORGANIZATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MYINTENT LAUNCH THE
‘BE LOVE GIVE LOVE CAMPAIGN’ TO HELP SERVE THE COMMUNITY EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN LOS ANGELES

In response to COVID-19, Be Love – in partnership with Chris Pan and the MyIntent Project, and the United Coalition East (UCEPP) – have committed to providing healthy meals, PPE, and basic necessities each week to support the unhoused community of Skid Row.

The program was first piloted in May and to date has served thousands of residents. Each week, volunteers gather in San Julian Park and Gladys Park to serve 250+ guests with healthy vegetarian meals from select Los Angeles area restaurants (Sage Bistro, Real Bonnie’s etc) as well as water bottles, face masks (Brooks Brothers), hand sanitizer (Pipette), clothing and other items. There’s music as well, with a range of services aimed specifically at fostering a sense of community in uncertain times.

The Be Love Organization was founded by actor, director, and changemaker, Justin Baldoni to bring love, dignity and compassion to people experiencing homelessness. The foundation’s flagship event, the annual Skid Row Carnival of Love (SRCOL) began 10 years ago and is the largest event of its kind in the United States serving our unhoused neighbors in, and around, downtown Los Angeles.

Occupying over 20,000 square feet in the heart of Skid Row, the Carnival’s 2,000 volunteers serve over 4,000 guests each year delivering resources provided by government, non-profit, and private partners. Last year, Baldoni expanded the one-day event to create services and opportunities for the Los Angeles community year round via the Be Love 1:1 peer mentorship program.

Be Love 1:1 is an ongoing program that extends the impact of the personal relationships and access to resources developed at the Skid Row Carnival of Love. By leveraging those relationships on an ongoing basis, we bring dignity, agency and opportunity to improve our neighbors’ lives.

The Be Love Give Love Campaign is supported by donations through the Be Love Organization, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
